GERMAN BUTTER COOKIES

GERMAN BUTTER COOKIES
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
INSTRUCTIONS
Cream butter, gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

Beat in egg, milk and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Chill for ease in handling. Roll out dough to 1/8" thickness on lightly floured surface. Cut with floured cookie cutters into desired shapes.

Bake on a cookie sheet in preheated 350°F oven 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool. The German food recipe is ready..enjoy it !

INGREDIENTS
  • 3 packages keilbasa sausage (2 large sausages in each)
  • 32 oz. kraut
  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 1/4 onion cut into rings
  • 4 tbs. brown sugar

INSTRUCTIONS
Add all ingredients into Crock Pot and cook 5 hours on High. The German food recipe of kraut keilbasa is ready to serve...enjoy the meal !

GERMAN CHOCOLATE RICE CRISPY TREATS ..a nice German food recipe to try !

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/4 cup low fat butter
  • 1 pkg. (10 oz.) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups chocolate Rice Crispies cereal
  • 1 cup pecan pieces
  • 1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut (not shredded)

INSTRUCTIONS
Grease well a 9x13 pan with butter.
Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla.
Add Rice Crispies cereal, pecans and coconut. Stir until well coated.
Press mixture into pan with a sheet of waxed paper or a greased spoon.
Let cool and slice into squares with a greased knife.

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 peaches, skinned
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 box peach Jello
  • 1 cup of ground cocoa beans type cocoa

INSTRUCTIONS
In a bowl mix peaches with some water, sugar, and the Jello.
Soak for an hour or two. Mix the cocoa and add 1 tbsp butter, 1/3 cup of milk, and 1/3 a cup of sugar.
Cook together in a pan until it bubbles.
Now very quickly drain the peaches and glaze.
Put these in the freezer for an hour to an hour and a half. The German food recipe of chocolates is ready to serve...enjoy the appetizer !

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup water, lukewarm
  • 2 each egg, well beaten
  • 1 1/4 cups bread crumbs, fresh
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup sugar dissolved in:
  • 1 cup milk, scalded
  • 5 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

INSTRUCTIONS
Cream together the butter and sugar, add the scalded milk and mix thoroughly.
When lukewarm, stir in the dissolved yeast, eggs and flour (using more flour if necessary to make a stiff batter - dough will be sticky and soft).
Beat mixture thoroughly, cover and let rise in a warm place about 1-1/2 hours or until double in bulk.When risen, beat again thoroughly.
Grease deep pie pan and sprinkle lightly with flour.
With a spoon, fill the pie pans with the dough. Sprinkle top of cakes with the following mixture: combine the soft bread crumbs with the melted butter, sugar, salt and cinnamon and mix well.
Let cakes rise about 20 minutes and then bake in a Preheated 400F oven about 20-25 minutes or until golden. Brush with melted butter and cool on wire rack. The German food recipe is ready to serve....! Enjoy !

  • instant vanilla pudding
  • graham cracker crumbs
  • bananas
INSTRUCTIONS
Make pudding acording to directions.
Layer: bananas, cracker crumbs, pudding.
End with pudding, then cover with more cracker crumbs. Refrigerate overnight.

GERMAN RHINELAND SAUERBRATEN ...a great German food recipe to try !

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 kg beef
  • 1 onion
  • 4 peppercorns
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 liter vinegar
  • 3/8 liter water
  • salt and pepper
  • sour cream
  • corn flour and water
  • Maggi liquid seasoning

INSTRUCTIONS
This is for the pure German Sauerbraten from Koln, uninfluenced and had not changed for thousands of years.
Wash and dry beef, place in large cook pot or bowl; chop onion and place all other ingredients in bowl to marinate (except for the sour cream and corn flour).

Place in cupboard to marinate, turning every day to allow all of the meat to become infused with spices. Marinating should be allowed to take place over 4-7 days. Remove meat from the marinade and place in pre-heated oven at 180°C with a small amount of water to prevent
burning and sticking.
Dook until done to your liking. Mix corn flour and water to make paste for gravy. Pour meat juices from pan and marinade into saucepan, bring to the boil and add corn flour to thicken, Maggi seasoning to taste.
Finally add sour cream to make gravy creamy and serve wtih dumplings and vegetables.
